Marriage Spices #3

Love Language Test!

Gary Chapman's book, The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate is a great way to learn why what makes you feel love doesn't always make your mate feel loved. (And no, we get no money from Gary for pumping his work!)

But here's a little test you can take without even reading Gary's book. His idea is fairly simple. Each one of us has a "love language" we respond to, or maybe a couple of 'em. But there's usually just one that really rings our bell, or to use Gary's term, "fills our love tank."

What one of the five love languages do you speak? Now, don't answer. Let your mate guess first! After she/he does, then you guess hers/his. And only then can you tell one another how close or far off each of you were.

Here are the love languages from Gary's book:

#1: Words of Affirmation
#2: Quality Time
#3: Recieving Gifts
#4: Acts of Service
#5: Physical Touch

Now, to use this marriage spice you need to take what you've learned about your mate's language and do something that speaks IN THAT LANGUAGE to them. For instance, if you're a guy who always thinks of sex first, but your wife is always starting up conversations with you and others, maybe you should take a hint. Sit down with her and talk about a book you read, or a sermon you heard, or a thought about yourself, your marriage, or your family you've not told anyone about. (Preferrably it is a NICE thought!)

If you guessed her love language right, you just may find her melting. It's all part of the High Romance!
