But write her some lines
and show her some signs
That your poem wuz writ in sincerety

Give it a try. Write a poem for your honey, and see if he likes it. Unless he's a literary critic for the New Yorker, he probably will. Don't get fancy, just have fun. And if you can't think of a rhyme, try freeverse.
